Hisham Akira Bharoocha is a multimedia artist based in Brooklyn, New York, working across various mediums including large-scale murals, paintings, drawings, collages, audio/visual installations, and performances. For commissioned work he is represented by Hugo & Marie, and for fine-art he is represented by Snow Contemporary in Tokyo.
He is one of the leading figures in the current New York cultural scene , active in a variety of fields including visual art, music, design, fashion, and photography . His work ranges from installations to paintings, collages, and photography. He was a former member of noise rock bands Black Dice + Pixeltan , and producer and director of 77 BOADRUM , the band Boredrums . After touring with Boredrums for eight years, He started working with Kill Alters . He produces electronic music as a solo artist under his own name and as YOKUBARI . As a DJ, he is active on Brooklyn's The Lot Radio , Rinse FM , and NTS .
