Hajime Tachibana
Born in Tokyo in 1951. In 1972, he joined the graphic design group "Workshop MU!!". In 1973, he followed David Bowie to the UK when he visited Japan. In 1976, he formed Plastics with Toshio Nakanishi and Chika Sato. He served as the leader. In 1979, Plastics' first single was released by Rough Trade in the UK, marking their immediate global debut. In 1980, he released the full album "WELCOME PLASTICS" from Victor, marking his major debut in Japan. In 1981, he released the album "WELCOME BACK" worldwide from Island Records. Since 1980, he has toured the world three times, including the US and Europe. After Plastics broke up in 1981, he debuted as a solo artist. He has been active in a wide range of fields, including not only music but also graphic design. In 1982, he released the solo albums "H" and "Hm", which were centered around a saxophone quartet. He released "Tekki-kun and Kip-chan" in 1984 and "Taiyo-san" in 1985. In 1986, he made his silver screen debut as an interpreter in the film "The Last Emperor". In 1991, he won the 35th ADC Grand Prize as a graphic designer and released the album "Bambi" at the same time. In 1992, he held a solo exhibition "Typography" and published a collection of his art, "Typography". In 1993, he held the exhibition "Tachibana Hajime and DEPT". In 1995, he released "Shin'in Beta", a plug-in module for the Macintosh graphic software "Illustrator", held a solo exhibition "Application Tour" at Yotsuya P3, and published a collection of his art, "Application Tour". In 1997, he formed the band Low Powers and released the album "Low Powers". In 1998, he held the exhibition "Lithographs, Letterpress Printing, Printouts, Hajime Tachibana, and P-House" at Ebisu P-House. In 2002, he participated in the programming group exhibition "TENDJAVa" and released the album "The END". In 2013, he released the album "Monaco" in a limited edition USB version. In 2019, he formed a new band, Hm (Her Minor), and performed live in various places. In 2022, he released the single "Hm Live Pretty Things" and published the poetry collection "ORIGATO PLASTICO", making his debut as a poet. This time, he participated as a special unit with musician and graphic designer MATERIAL.
